I've never had errors when getting True Friends on my accounts if I've done the steps properly, and since I don't work for Disney or whatever, I can't help past showing you how to properly turn on the feature. Some problems can only be fixed by the people working for the company. //End edit//
An updated version of one of my other videos on how to unlock true friends. This one includes how to link the parent and child accounts in the first place for those who do not know how to.
True friends is only available for members. Get an SF code in-game by clicking on the true friend button on your friends list. You can then give it to your friend, they'll enter it, and you two will be able to talk freely without the dictionary limitations (although you must still follow the Disney House Rules and still will get banned for saying something innapropriate). Recently, handing out true friend codes in-game has led to suspensions (in some cases at least), so please be careful. If you can, try giving the code to your friend through another site [like Youtube].
