Unofficial FAQ

Q: What's your name and how old are you?

A: My name is Carter but I prefer to be called by my toon identity, Toon Player. I'm currently 14 and in the 9th grade.

Q: What's your association with Disney Toontown Online?

A: You ask a lot of questions. :P

Well, Toontown has been a hobby of mine since as long as I can remember! It was the first MMORPG I ever discovered on the internet, and as I've heard, it's speculated to be the pioneer MMO to be family-oriented, at least according to sources such as Jesse Schell, which is pretty cool I guess.

I remember I first heard about Toontown in 2007 because of the commercials on the Disney Channel. It looked fun, but I never gave it much attention. But that summer my sister announced to me that she received this email about some Toontown promotion. It was late at night and I really didn't have anything else to do, and I remembered seeing some of the gameplay from Disney commercials, so I thought it would it would be a great idea to start playing.

And I didn't doubt myself for one second. It was the best gaming experience I've ever had online, after all it didn't take much to appease a seven year old. xD

Regardless of its antiquated gameplay and coding base, there was just something about it that was addicting and kept me playing for a very long time. It was probably because of its originality, between the characters, the gameplay, the combat weapons, the world and much more.

Q: What was your reaction when you found out for the first time that Toontown was closing?

Closing Announcement

A: Well I didn't exactly react like this, but I was rightfully upset. After all, Toontown was a game that I played on and off since 2007, and I also met a lot of great friends and acquaintances on the game, and didn't exactly want it all to be over. Yes, I was one of the community members who was irritated by the lack of new content, since perpetually doing the same thing over and over can get a little tiring after awhile.

I never wanted to confirm Toontown 2.0, since I've always been neutral about that. There's evidence that it could be a rumor, but yet there's also evidence refuting all of those rumors. Of course whenever new content is found it leans my opinion slightly towards the fact that it might be still in development but since nothing has been found for awhile, I'm currently neutral.

Of course the fact that it was once in development isn't a rumor, since we've not only found concept art, but detailed resumes encompassing that project.

So why am I talking about Toontown 2.0? Well, I thought there might have been a chance that this might be the last time I was able to play the actual Toontown, which would definitely increase how I felt about it closing. I'm not sure how I really feel about nostalgia, but I just wanted to continue playing the game.
